Not my best time for a half (actually my slowest road half in years) but considering im still trying to work out the groin/ab issue I wont get to down about it.

The garmin was dead so I didnt get any splits and I decided to leave the music home which I think helped me focus a bit on my running. Felt good at the start but could tell after about a mile that I was going to have to fight to keep whatever pace we where currently going at. I fell in behind a guy that lives up the street and just tried to not let him get to far ahead and man was that a lot of effort. Im glad I didnt have the watch cause if I would have seen the pace I think I might have gotten frustrated. It felt like we where pushing a good pace and I thought we might come across around 1:20 so when I heard the time at the finish I was taken back just a little. That was a hard fought 6:2X pace if Ive ever run one.

More sore than Ive been in quite awhile today but I dont think I aggrivated anything so thats a good thing.

This was a step in a very positive direction - confidence builder that you can workout harder again, and a good hard tempo push.

I'm not sure what your expectations were going in, but it sounds to me like there are plenty of positives to focus on.

One to build on right?

That's not my best time for a half either. But I wish it was.

Thanks Dave.

Rob - Im not sure what I was expecting either. I guess there was that small hope in the back of my mind that I wouldnt have lost anything and could bust out a super fast time or at least run without it taking a lot of effort. But your right, its one to build on. Thanks

Burt - We all know you go out at night and run 1:10 halfs just for fun. Stop pretending you dont.

It was nice to meet you -- twice! I was taken back by the time as well when I crossed. I knew I had some good splits and didn't think I'd end up where I was. FYI my watch measured it 13.25, the shortest I have heard. The race was slow because of conditions and length, so at least we know this will be our slowest halves of the year :D

Great job James. Dude the wind was pretty strong. Cold wet conditions. that time is amazing. i was very impressed. you have not lost much at all. it will come back soon. just keep smart. rest when you need it.
