Not going to over think todays race. Bottom line: No training=very tired body. Overall felt decent until 19 then I was done. Walked some the next 3 miles then most of the last 3.

Any thoughts about going into a race when you know you haven't trained optimally? Heroic or stupid? It's a question I'm pondering right now.

On another note. Your posts are great. Filled with wisdom and wit. Keep it up.

Thanks Travis.

Depends on the race and what optimally is. I dont think Ive hit a race in "optimal" shape yet. But I enjoy it so much I keep coming back for more punishment.

5k,10k no big deal. 1/2 or marathon. Go for it if your just wanting to run for fun. If you are trying to race its a stupid idea. I learned that the hard way today (again). Nothing like having 25-30 people pass you in the last 3 miles to make you happy.

Freaking solid run for no training... IMHO.

sorry about the tough race today. sounds like you learned some things for the next one, which is always a plus. keep it up.

You should have just run the 20 miler. Wait... there wasn't one; well crap!

Time to get training again.

Dang it, if only those first miles counted for more. You'll get it next time
