I hadnt decided weather to run the 1/2 or the 20 miler but decided before getting on the bus that I'd do the 20 so I could stay in the running for the race series. The calves where sore and a bit stiff from yesterdays 23 miles but didnt end up being a problem. There wasnt someone to start the race so Jeff was picked to yell us off at 6:36am. I dont think that the actual race clock was started when we started because everyones watch times where off from the finish clock time. Im going to go with the finish clock time because it was a faster time by a minute+. Started out easy and with no intention of trying to do anything but finish with a halfway decent time. The first mile felt about right but I guess Im more competitive than I thought because I picked it up and caught up with Ryan and Steve(?) just after the big downhill out of Veyo. We all pretty much stayed close together until outside of Gunlock and from somewhere I got a massive surge of feeling good so I picked it up and passed Ryan and Steve(?). After a few miles of leading I got wondering when one of them was going to come shooting by but it never happened. I felt really good coming past Gunlock Res and towards the old highway and was enjoying being in the lead. I started to get tired just before the old highway and really felt like I was slowing. I checked my garmin a few times but kept telling myself to just not worry about it and try to run hard. The last 2 miles where really hard but I didnt slow down as much as it felt like I did. On a couple of the downhills I even dipped into the high 4's for a little bit. I never thought that would happen especially in a distance race. Im really happy with how today turned out especially after such a long run yesterday. I thought I might continue the Holt tradition of finishing 2nd but was able to win today and edge out Ryan for 1st place overall in the runners series which was an added bonus. Now for some good rest and hopefully I havent overdone it and messed up my marathon goals. 1 - 6:40 2 - 5:45 3 - 5:56 4 - 6:21 5 - 6:35 6 - 6:20 7 - 6:56 (stopped at aid station to tighten my shoe) 8 - 6:15 9 - 6:27 10 - 5:52 11 - 6:15 12 - 6:07 13 - 6:23 14 - 6:16 15 - 6:16 16 - 6:10 17 - 6:41 18 - 6:12 19 - 6:23 20 - 6:23

All I can say is WOW!! You really kicked in in gear on this run. You are very primed for a great SGM. Now take some time and rest the body!

Awesome job man, especially after the long run on Friday. I only ran 2:10 last year, so you blew that away.
