Fields. 3 mile warm up then 3 (6:12, 6:13, 6:17) tempo. Dont know if it was the heat or what but that was all I had. 4.5 back home. My legs are completly spent. Not sure what the deal is but im getting a bit worried with the marathon coming up and not having any energy on any run for the last month. Maybe its time to just ease off and let the body recover.

Lunch 5.75 - Parkway.

Evening 5.25 Treadmill. Ran the first mile barefoot. If my wuss feet could have handled it I would have done the whole run barefoot. Its been way too long since ive run this way. I cant believe Ive had the treadmill for this long and havent tried it yet. It felt really, really good. Ill have to do that more often. It took over a mile before I felt right in the shoes once I put them on.

Slow treadmill miles tonight. It will be interesting to see how the legs hold up between tomorrow mornings long run and the 1/2 on Saturday.

Down the marathon course with Bill, Dustin, Dave, Steve, Nate. Held back a little so hopefully there is a little gas left for tomorrows race. Felt good but the legs where tired by the end.

I hadnt decided weather to run the 1/2 or the 20 miler but decided before getting on the bus that I'd do the 20 so I could stay in the running for the race series. The calves where sore and a bit stiff from yesterdays 23 miles but didnt end up being a problem. There wasnt someone to start the race so Jeff was picked to yell us off at 6:36am. I dont think that the actual race clock was started when we started because everyones watch times where off from the finish clock time. Im going to go with the finish clock time because it was a faster time by a minute+. Started out easy and with no intention of trying to do anything but finish with a halfway decent time. The first mile felt about right but I guess Im more competitive than I thought because I picked it up and caught up with Ryan and Steve(?) just after the big downhill out of Veyo. We all pretty much stayed close together until outside of Gunlock and from somewhere I got a massive surge of feeling good so I picked it up and passed Ryan and Steve(?). After a few miles of leading I got wondering when one of them was going to come shooting by but it never happened. I felt really good coming past Gunlock Res and towards the old highway and was enjoying being in the lead. I started to get tired just before the old highway and really felt like I was slowing. I checked my garmin a few times but kept telling myself to just not worry about it and try to run hard. The last 2 miles where really hard but I didnt slow down as much as it felt like I did. On a couple of the downhills I even dipped into the high 4's for a little bit. I never thought that would happen especially in a distance race. Im really happy with how today turned out especially after such a long run yesterday. I thought I might continue the Holt tradition of finishing 2nd but was able to win today and edge out Ryan for 1st place overall in the runners series which was an added bonus. Now for some good rest and hopefully I havent overdone it and messed up my marathon goals. 1 - 6:40 2 - 5:45 3 - 5:56 4 - 6:21 5 - 6:35 6 - 6:20 7 - 6:56 (stopped at aid station to tighten my shoe) 8 - 6:15 9 - 6:27 10 - 5:52 11 - 6:15 12 - 6:07 13 - 6:23 14 - 6:16 15 - 6:16 16 - 6:10 17 - 6:41 18 - 6:12 19 - 6:23 20 - 6:23

Treadmill miles. My calves where pretty tight when I started so I went really slow and didnt ever speed up much. Not quite as tired as I thought Id be but I still took it real easy.

City Wells. Went a little faster than yesterdays run and the legs felt better. Thankfully the pumps where running so I was able to refill my water bottle and cool off a little.

Fields. Got out in the afternoon before the sun broke out of the clouds so it wasnt to bad temp wise. Picked up the pace just a little for 3 miles in the middle of the run but not much. Ok run.

Down the marathon course with the club. Picked up the pace outside of Winchester and ran pretty good for 4 miles. Stopped to get water and never got back up to speed. The legs are thrashed.

Fields towards Warner Valley. Started out feeling sluggish and really tight along the front of the lower legs but after 3 miles I loosened up and was able to speed up to better pace for the rest of the run.

Middleton up to the top of the industrial park. Not a bad run but I couldnt get into any kind of groove. Lots of traffic and I had to stop at every light/corner for cars. No crazy birthday mileage run for me. Im not up for that kind of distance especially this close to the marathon.

Club run. Reverse parkway. Caught a ride to the store with Steve. Steve and Aaron took off so Bill, Dustin and I just went easy. Ran back home from the store.

Havent run since Friday and have been in bed since Saturday night. That never happens to me. Im usually down for 24 hours and then back at it. Havent been able to eat or sleep much since Monday morning. I tried to work today and got about 2 hours in and then got feverish again. Trying a Z pack of antibiotics to see if that will kill it but thats a 5 day process. This years SGM might be shot. Frustrating cause i feel im ready for a good race.

Parkway/Grapvine. Started with the intention of running the parkway loop but they have it fenced off for construction so I came back and went up to Grapevine. Felt ok. Coughed a bit and felt drained by the end but thats most likely from lack of eating the last week.

Fields. Took it easy again but I might have gone further than I was ready for today. I had to walk a few times as my legs where just dead. Trying not to over think anything and just get better.

Mustang Pass. I might have to move the new goal for the marathon to finish in under 3 hrs after todays run. Yuck. Hopefully I can use the next few days to shake the last of this cold and wake the legs back up.

Treadmill. Felt pretty good today considering it was a treadmill run. Ill have to get up and run tomorrow morning instead of waiting till afternoon/evening so I can enjoy the temps and lack of wind.
