This was the 20th aniversary of my first marathon and I thought it would be fun to cut off 1 hour from my initial time of 3:36 on this race. Didnt happen but I still ran as well as i could. Just didnt train as hard as was needed to hit that time.

I felt like I was pushing more during the first half but still came across the half at 1:21. So pretty much the same as always. The second half was brutal and by about 22 I was all but finished. Dave ran with me for a touch trying to get me moving but I just couldnt go. Suprisingly I only got passed by maybe 3 people which was weird with how much I died. Ill rest up and then get back at it but probably going to focus on doing some trail races for a while.

Had a great weekend relaxing on Mikes houseboat and visiting/swimming/watching tv/riding jetskis. Also ran a race in between all the fun. I had no expectations only being 2 weeks out from St. George and with last weeks runs feeling pretty hard.  Its a fun course through some home areas of Page for a few miles then out onto a dirt trail that runs along the rim over looking the lake for 2 miles. Then it drops down along the highway and crosses the bridge and runs along the frontage road to Wahweep marina. I started off with a pace that I felt I could hold and went from there. I was in about 10th place coming into the trail and feeling pretty good and I love me some trail running so I passed a couple of guys here and then stayed in 8th for the remainder of the race. I got pretty tired coming out of the dirt and thought that it was going to be a bad last half but after crossing the bridge my body came alive and I was able to really work up the hills along the frontage road. I worked hard at chasing down 6-7 but they held their pace stong and all I could do was close the gap a bit. Ended up breaking the masters course record by over 12 minutes (technically Walter has run faster twice but he won the race those two times so he doesnt count). Happy to have such a good race so close after a marathon. Had a blast before, during and after the race. Really glad I went.

Big thanks to Walter for getting me in at the last moment. Thanks tons!!!!

City Wells. Drove up to the trailhead and ran from there. Not a very good run. Mind and body were not wanting to be there.

Spanish Wash/City Wells. Wanted to hit the trails with the rains having packed them down. Apparently everyone else in southern utah/colorado/nevada/arizona/california had the same idea. Pretty bummed that all these people know about these trails now. Not very enjoyable having to fight bikers/horse riders/walkers with damn dogs the whole run. End rant.

Got to the Spanish wash turn off and ran up the wash a ways and decided to head up to the top of a peak to see the view. It was really pretty. Decided that I needed to head up the tallest peak out there because Ive always wanted to and it was the perfect day for it. Lots of climbing (630' in .5 miles at one point) but the view was worth the effort. Came back down on the east side and hit the City Wells trail back to the car.
