Wasn't sure how today would play out but I had hopes that the legs from the Butch Cassidy would be there and last the whole run. Didn't turn out that way but considering I havent done any work to push by body in over3 months I shouldnt complain. Didnt see any one familiar aside from Ben VanB at the start but I knew that there would be several guys that would be up in front of me and thats how it started and stayed the whole run. The starting pace felt slow and Im glad I didnt go out any harder cause the speed I took off at was too much and it came back to bite me the last few miles. Saw Dave at the first turn and he told me to try and stick with the guys just in front of me so thats what I tried to do. That lasted about 1 mile before they started to pull away but I keep pushing and feeling good about how things where going. Caught a guy at around mile 6 just as we turned onto Bringham rd but we didnt stay together for very long. I wanted to push and try and catch the guys further up and he fell back aways. I didnt make any headway on catching people because of the hill but I did keep pace because of the push. Most of the rest of the run was survival mode. I heard Dave across the river as I got onto the trail and that helped give me a boost but when I made a turn a short time later I was able to look back and could see several guys/gal (i think Amber was in that group) gaining. Made it almost to the bridge before getting passed by 2 guys and that finished sucking the wind out of the sails. Tried to keep close to the 2nd guy but I could tell I was slowing and loosing the mental battle to push.  Dave picked me up at about 11.5 and pushed me till the end (Big thanks for that Dave!!) and forced me to finish strong when I wanted to just call it.

Waited for the awards and got confused when they annonced someone else taking 7th place and then didnt call me for an age division award. I just wanted to go home but ended up talking to Aaron and found they had put me in the 5k during registration. They fixed that and were kind enough to give me an award even though they had already handed them out incorectly to someone else. So overall a decent start to the year. Now its time to start getting some speed in the legs.
